Bruno Gambone

Italian
Bruno Gambone (born 1936) is an Italian ceramic artist known for his unique and innovative approach to ceramics. He was born in Vietri sul Mare, a town on the Amalfi Coast of Italy known for its ceramics tradition, and grew up in a family of ceramicists.

Gambone initially studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence, but eventually turned to ceramics as his primary medium. He began working in his family's studio in the 1950s, but eventually struck out on his own and established his own studio in Florence in the 1960s.

Gambone's work is characterized by its organic forms, irregular shapes, and bold, expressive surfaces. He often uses thick glazes and rough textures to create a sense of depth and movement in his pieces. His work ranges from functional objects such as bowls and vases to sculptural forms that blur the boundaries between art and craft.

Gambone's ceramics are highly sought-after by collectors and are represented in major museum collections around the world. He is widely regarded as one of the most important ceramic artists of the 20th century, and his work continues to influence and inspire contemporary ceramic artists.
