Chris Gustin

Chris Gustin is an American ceramic artist known for his large-scale, abstract sculptural forms. He was born in 1952 in California and studied at San Diego State University and the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University.
 
Gustin's work is characterized by its dynamic, organic forms, which often feature dramatic curves and intricate surface textures. He uses a variety of techniques to create his pieces, including throwing, hand-building, and carving, and often incorporates other materials such as metal and wood.
 
In addition to his studio practice, Gustin is also a respected educator and has taught at several institutions, including the Rhode Island School of Design and the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. He has received numerous awards and honors for his work, including a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship and a Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Craft Council. Gustin's pieces can be found in museums and private collections around the world, and he is widely considered to be one of the leading figures in contemporary ceramic art.
