Jacques Nicolas Bellin

Jacques Nicolas Bellin (1703-1772) was a French hydrographer, geographer, and cartographer. He was born in Paris and trained as an engraver before becoming a cartographer for the French Navy. He worked on numerous maps and atlases, and his work was highly influential in the development of the science of cartography.
 
Bellin was a prolific mapmaker, and his maps covered a wide range of regions, from France and Europe to Africa, Asia, and the Americas.
