Nathaniel Dirk

American, 1895 - 1961
Nathaniel Dirk was born in Brooklyn New York and 1895. He lived and was active in New York, Rockport Massachusetts. He studied at the art students league of New York and the Art Institute of Chicago.
At the art students league he studied with Max Weber, Kenneth Hayes Miller and in Paris with Ferdinand Leger. He was president of the Cape Society of Modern Art and a member of the Rockport Art Association. He exhibited widely with 13 one man shows. He taught at the league in 1939 and then again from 1947 to 1951.
Daniel's work can be found in the permanent collections of the Whitney Museum, Metropolitan Museum of Art, Smithsonian institution National Gallery, Brooklyn Museum and the Art Institute of Chicago.
