Stan Bitters

American
Stan Bitters (1932-2021) was an American sculptor and ceramic artist known for his unique style of creating large-scale, textured, and sculptural ceramic murals, wall sculptures, and pottery. He was born in California and studied at Chouinard Art Institute (now the California Institute of the Arts) in Los Angeles.

Bitters' work is inspired by the rugged and natural beauty of the American Southwest, and his pieces often feature earthy colors, organic shapes, and rough textures that evoke the region's deserts, mountains, and canyons. He worked primarily in clay, but also experimented with other materials such as concrete, wood, and metal.

Bitters' art can be found in public spaces, private homes, and galleries throughout the United States, and he has been the subject of numerous solo exhibitions and retrospectives. His legacy as a pioneering figure in the field of ceramic art continues to inspire new generations of artists.
