Description A rare early 19th century French ormolu clock that depicts a maiden supporting a milk jug surrounded by barnyard animals. Both she and the sheep have enamel eyes similar to those found in the blackamoor series.

The well-cast ormolu case depicts a barnyard scene with a maiden supporting a milk jug accompanied by several animals that include a sheep, rooster, a chicken with her hens and a lamb. Both she and the sheep have enamel eyes similar to the ones found in the blackamoor series. The whole stands on an oval base with four unusual bird feet.

The white porcelain dial has black Roman numerals for the hours, steel-cut Breguet-style hands and is signed ‘Dubuc’.

The eight-day time and strike movement has a silk-thread suspension that is adjusted off the back-cock, a pendulum with a butterfly bob and strikes on a bell.

Dubuc is listed as working at Rue du Grand-Hurleur in 1800.

They produced some wonderful examples including the desirable George Washington series.
