Antique Polychrome Buddha Burmese on Lotus
-
Description
The Buddha is seated on an unusual double-lotus throne in an "adamantine posture" (vajrasana), with his legs crossed and the soles of both feet turned up. The image was depicted in a common Burmese style known as the "Shan-style," characterized by the typical bell shape of the usnisa (turban) on Buddha?s head and his iconic and meditative facial expression.
