Description A very rare 1920′s Art Deco deep acid etched Daum glass vase, this is the real thick walled heavy glass – it has a very nice weight to it, beautiful pale orange color with gold and black flecks, acid etched right through to the clear below with a fabulous design of stylized leaves and flowers … it looks stunning as the light catches it.

It’s an exceptional great size, the top at 12″ with a very wide opening. It is fully signed around the bottom edge DAUM NANCY FRANCE with the croix de Lorraine! The photos do not do justice to truly represent the size and volume of this piece.

The Daum company began in 1878, rose to prominence at the turn of the century winning the medal of honor in 1900 . The techniques of ” pate de verre “, of acid etching and the embrace of Art Nouveau styling made Daum one of the most popular and important glass companies in the world. Daum, and its rival Lalique, were the French masters that did so much to elevate the art of glass and to establish the rise of “Art Deco” design through the ‘teens, the 1920s and 1930s.
