French ormolu mounted red marble pedestal column

It is not just the exquisite design and fine detailing, but also the quality of the stone which makes this French Neoclassical style pedestal a special piece. Built from a beautifully veined red and white stone, the pedestal's rich colouring makes it ideal for a stylish interior setting.
The pedestal is formed with a square base, on a stepped support with four feet to each corner. The base is mounted with ormolu interlocking rings, and leads to a tapering column which is mounted with Classical female figures, shown drinking and conversing. The square-form plinth top sits above the column, and is intended to support a fine sculpture or work of art. -
