Description A fine Federal style fireplace surround retaining early yellow and white paint, this is a rare find with its diminutive stature and exquisite condition throughout. The thick pine members are locked together with tenon-mortised joinery using small wooden pegs to firmly secure all joints. Particularly attractive is the attractive reeded decoration employed under the mantel and throughout the moldings; it is eye-catching under the mantel as the direction of the reeding changes from vertical to horizontal and back again in a repeating fashion.

A distinctly architectural piece that has been beautifully built with furniture standards, designed to last the test of time with a careful attention to detail in the joints and arrangement of members, it is an incredibly fine acquisition for the classical home.
