Description | British Sailor's Woolwork With Trapunto Sails, Late 19th Century (Ref: NY9163/NUMR) The large colorful folky sailor's woolwork or woolie depicts a large square-rigged three-masted first-rate battleship. The sails are depicted trapunto. The hull of the ship is orange as are the masts. A blue ensign flies from the foremast, a red ensign from the mainmast, and an American flag from the Mizzenmast. Three smaller ships are in the foreground. The ship on the left with a little loss to the sail as seen in the photo. The woolwork within a maple frame. Dimensions: 28 inches high x 32 1/4 inches x1/2 inch deep |
