Description In Greek mythology Niobe had six sons and six daughters, and boasted widely of her progenitive superiority. She was punished for her hubris by the Titan, Leto, who sent his only two children Apollo and Artemis to slay her children. Devastated, Niobe returned to her Phrygian home where she was turned to stone on Mount Sipylus, though she continued to weep, the water flowing through her petrified complexion. The mountain still weeps to this day when the snow melts above it.
