19th Century Painted Leather Chinese Export Trunk on Stand

    Dimensions: 25 3/4″H x 29 3/4″W x 15 1/2″D

    A spectacular camphor wood Chinese Export trunk on custom iron stand, made circa 1840. The trunk is finished in leather that has been painted and secured to the wooden trunk with brass trim and nail heads. Beautiful flowers grace the well-worn leather, hand-painted by an artisan long gone. The chest has a functioning lock and key. Brass handles can be found on each side of the trunk for easy transport. All the wonders of age combine and are visibly expressed in the patina and antiquated splendor that makes this fine Asian piece.
