Airplane Manufacturers Scale Model of a Junkers W 34
-
Description
This is a rare airplane manufacturers model by Junkers of a W 33 built from 1927 until 1934. Junkers built the first all metal airplane, prior to this airplanes were mainly made from wood. The Junkers W 33 was a German single engine monoplane transport aircraft. It was aerodynamically and structurally advanced for its time. It is remembered in aviation history for the first east west non-stop crossing of the Atlantic. These models were made in the Junkers factory and given as gifts to clients or used as engineering model samples and displays. These models are extremely difficult to find as they were often one of a kind. This model is constructed from brass and has the Junkers' characteristic corrugated metal skin. There is an opening hatch above the aircraft for easy loading as well as a side door and inside shows the storage areas. The ailerons move up and down and the propeller spins just like the real airplane. The landing gear has two rubber tires, one of which looks like it may be an old replacement. Overall the model is in amazing original condition.
