Description Oil on canvas mounted on foam, goldleaf and silicone by New York based artist, Alexis Zambrano. This piece came from a series studying the Reliquary Collection of the Victoria and Albert and the Met Museum. It is a portrayal of the constant search for balance in our lives. Alexis Zambrano’s work investigates the different dimensions of our existence, physical planes versus the cosmic and spiritual; The conscious vs unconscious. Through his practice he references the works of old masters, architecture, contemporary art and nature; analyzing their purpose and evolution, these materialize through drawing, painting and sculpture in juxtaposed and altered settings. Originally Monterrey Mexico, Zambrano lives and works in New York since 2008.
