Description | Rare and important hand-blown glass “Bandiere Vase” model 13471 by Anzolo Fuga for Arte Vetraria Muranese (A.V.E.M.), Murano Italy 1955-56. Etched on bottom “COL LUCIANO FERRO 1952”. Luciano Ferro was Fuga’s primary glass blower who executed most of his works. After Luciano passed away in 1972 Ada Ferro, his older sister and owner of the glasshouse, had some of the pieces in his personal collection posthumously inscribed like this, some with the incorrect year of production. This piece was blown in the 1955-56 period. The Bandiere series was one of Fuga’s first series designed for A.V.E.M. and the glassblowers came up with the name “Bandiere” which means flag. Reference: Anzolo Fuga, Murano Glass Artist, Designs for A.V.E.M. by Rosa Baroveir Mentasti and published by Acanthus Press in 2005. A historical description of the Bandiere series (1955-58) is on page 29. A photo of this model vase is shown on page 30. AVEM, Artistic Production by Marc Heiremans published by Arnoldsche in 2020. The original drawing for this piece by Fuga is shown on page 86 and a photo of this model vase is shown on page 87. A black and white archival photograph of this model vase is shown on page 219.
