Beautiful Hand-Painted Rudolstadt Porcelain Elephant Humidor with Lid

Description
A handsome hand-painted Rudolstadt porcelain elephant, made by the manufacturer Älteste Volkstedter Porzellanmanufaktur, founded in 1760. Originating from the early 20th century, this Fine ornament would have been designed as a humidor for tobacco storage, but its lidded compartment allows for the safe keeping of a variety of things. The delicate painted details allude to the Hindi tradition of decorating elephants on Holi day.
