  • Description
    This is a whimsical study of a mouse grooming itself. This charming mouse was cast by the artist in about 1940. It is finished with a silvered patina, signed B. Putnam.

    Brenda Putnam (1890-1975) was an American sculptor working in bronze since her first exhibition in 1911, she won the Barnett Prize at the National Academe of Design in 1922 and the Wildner Gold Medal at the Vienna Academe in 1923.

    She was a very accomplished sculptor benning commissioned to do several monumental pieces for the US House of Representatives like the bas reliefs over the visitors gallery and the bust of Susan B. Anthony done for New York University in 1952.

    As you can see she was a sculptor of many different subjects and sizes.
