Condition: Very good vintage condition.
Carole Harrison mixed metal figurative sculpture of a matador, signed and dated 1965. Comprised of welded brass, copper and bronze with an applied patina. Cylindrical wooden base. Base measures 2.75" height x 4" diameter. Stamped Harrison 65. Carole Harrison was born in Chicago, Illinois and studied art at the Cranbrook Academy of Art in 1955 and received a master from that institution in 1956. Also furthered education overseas by studying at the Central School of Art in London, England with a Fulbright scholarship in 1958. She specialized in sculptures of Bronze and welded metal and copper. The artist has several sculptures in public collections. She exhibited art at the Detroit Institute of Art, The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in 1959, Herron Art Museum in Indianapolis , Indiana in 1967, Kalamazoo Institute of Arts in 1976, National Academy of Design in New York in 1982 and many other venues. Not many sculptures by this artist come up for sale. -
