Description This corten steel mobile was created by Gene Montez Flores during the early 1960s in his California studio. It was his largest private residential commission. The sculpture consists of four massive arms with saucer shaped steel counterweights on one end to balance the mass of the suspended elements on the opposing side. The 14 interlocking discoidal components each contain a different element. Some are embedded with large crystals while others have electrified candle shaped lights and others have a spike to support large wax candles. Adding remote controlled programmable LED flicker candles would be a nice option for these. The torch cut steel has such a unique aesthetic. GM Flores' work is truly unique. Each of the counterweights has a face displaying a different emotion welded into the underside. This work is suitable for interior or exterior use.
