Vintage Bust of a Young Women, Signed David Gilmore. USA 2019.
Each bust started with a vintage mannequin head which was then placed on either a metal or glass stand. The artist, David Gilmore, painted a pattern over their faces in a similar manner to his work on paper. Hair styles were created with rope and twine and then plaster with fabric covers that hair and forms their clothing. The wooden bases were custom made by James English.
There’s nods to the Victorian Era, Santos figures, Maori face tattoos, Beauty trends, and Art Deco.
