Description
English brass inkwell in the form of a lobster
English, late 19th Century
Height 9.5cm, width 17.5cm, depth 33cm
This bizarre yet charming brass inkwell takes the guise of a lobster. The lobster contains two inkwells—set beneath a hinged cover on the back. Not only does this piece serve a functional purpose as an inkwell, it is a work of art in and of itself, working perfectly as a piece of sculpture—and a charming talking point.
The belly of the lobster is stamped ‘RD / 136502’. -
