Description
Fabergé rose quartz, gold, diamond and enamel walking stick
Russian, c. 1900
Height 91cm, diameter 3cm
This remarkable walking stick is a creation by Fabergé—the renowned Russian luxury brand founded in 1842 by Gustav Fabergé (1814–1894) and later elevated to worldwide fame by his son, Peter Carl Fabergé (1846–1920). Known for its exquisite craftsmanship, Fabergé specialized in fine objets d'art, elaborate jewellery, and decorative pieces, blending precious gemstones and metals with innovative artistry.
The handle of this walking stick is masterfully carved from rose quartz, presenting a soft, organic shape that provides a comfortable hold. The natural pink tones of the stone are enhanced by subtle white veins. Rose quartz is traditionally believed to embody unconditional love, emotional healing, and spiritual growth, infusing the antique with deeper meaning.
Beneath the handle rests an exquisite gold collar, decorated with enamel and diamonds. It features intricate engine-turned patterns with a reeded design along the upper and lower edges, accented by delicate bands filled with green cloisonné enamel in the shape of leaves, with diamonds representing the flowers. The central portion of the collar is further embellished with engine-turned detailing, interspersed with white enamel strips.
The walking stick is supported by a tapered black hardwood shaft, ending with a metal ferrule that provides durability and protection.
The collar bears the Fabergé maker's mark, the workmaster’s stamp of Michael Perchin (St. Petersburg), and the ‘56’ gold mark, authenticating its provenance.
A piece of both historical and artistic significance, this Fabergé walking stick represents an extraordinary opportunity to own a rare item from Imperial Russia.
