Horse head in cast iron, France middle of the XIXth century

Sold Sold
  • Description
Very beautiful subject in cast iron representing a horse's head neighing, with the ears straightened, the mane provided and the dilated nostrils. He wears around his neck a ribbon knot decorated with oak leaves.

This sculpture would have adorned the wall of a stable on a private property or the entrance to a stud farm.
At the back there are three bolts to fix it vertically.

The features of the horse are very fine and precise.
Very high quality cast iron, to be compared with the productions of the Alsatian art foundry De Dietrich.

To read, the interesting article by Michel Hau on the De Dietrich foundry, published by the FONTESDART association.
