Large pair of scagliola and gilt bronze vases
Italian, 19th Century
Height 68cm, width 29cm, depth 24cm
Rich, purple scagliola and sumptuous gilt bronze combine to make these simple, chic and stylish vases, which feel as up-to-date today as they did in the 19th Century when they were first made.
The vases are of tall, slender form, with a thin necks and a flared rims, and have flecked purple scagliola bodies, made to resemble porphyry. Each vase is set on a circular gilt bronze base and mounted at either side with twin gilt bronze scrolling acanthus leaf handles. -
