Large and Rare Gilt Bronze Box Line Vautrin

Description
A large gilt bronze poudrier box (power compact) called "Versailles or Les Paves du Roy" (The King's Paving Stone) by French Parisian art jeweler Line Vautrin (1913-1997) circa 1940s. This impressive work of art features a larger box with the surface of paving stone design that is to contain the powder and small hinged Trianon that is to contain the eye shadow. The interior retain a mirror panel and a powder pad, both appear original. It contains an original pouch "David Gill London" where it was likely purchased. David Gill is an London dealer who worked with Line Vautrin and held her exhibition in his gallery in 1995. Their collaboration brought her international acclaim and culminated in the 1999 ground-breaking exhibition at the Musée des Arts Decoratifs in Paris.
