Description A cast bronze box used as a poudrier (powder box) by French Parisian Art Jeweler Line Vautrin (1913-1997) circa 1950s. The lidded box is in a form a tear drop and features a relief band of motif including two kissing pigeons, arrows tails and heads and two locking hearts, set on a subtle green enameled background. A design that indicates a clear theme of love and romance. In the center, a large roundel of lustrous mother of pearl was set to render this piece a more antique appearance. Inside of the box, the mirror remains and appear original as well as the pad. Signed "Line Vautrin" on the base. Mother of Pearl was not a common material used by Line Vautrin, making this box a relatively rare model.
For a small paperweight of a similar design using mother of pearl. see lot 136 in Sotheby's Paris sale PF4023 Line Vautrin Collection D'un Amateur, December 14th, 2004.
