Crafted with excellent technique and precision, these exceptional and very large candelabra exude an aura of neoclassical magnificence. Central to their allure is a large, elegantly carved Classical female figure, rendered in patinated bronze. Her commanding presence sets the tone for the pieces with her detailed robes underscoring the profound neoclassical influence of the piece’s design.
Extending from the female figure’s hands is an immaculate marble orb, nestled within a luminous gilt bronze setting. Springing forth from this are thirteen slender branches, each bearing scrolled leaf designs in a complex arabesque of shapes that testify to their intricate artistry. Glistening in sumptuous ormolu, the candelabra's core is graced with bead-and-reel accents and a leaf-inspired pattern embrace around the marble.
Positioned on richly veined red marble pedestals, each candelabra rests on powerful clawed feet. The pedestal's base is enhanced with ormolu shields, harmonized with the regality of acanthus leaf detailing in a frieze all around the circular base. The top of the base, around the edge, showcases a medley of ormolu embellishments, from flowing floral garlands to subtle bows, all framed within a refined leaf-and-dart sequence, embodying the neoclassical style's essence.
While their design nods to the legendary works of French virtuoso Albert-Ernest Carrier-Belleuse (1824-1887), their distinct artistry sets them apart, symbolizing craftsmanship's pinnacle. Dominating any space they inhabit, they seamlessly transform vast surroundings into citadels of opulence. They stand as a vivid intersection of sheer artistry and the romance of the neoclassical era. -
