Description This rare Hepplewhite-inspired miniature chest was handmade by a professional cabinet maker, probably in Maryland. Whether it was made as an example of his work or as a gift for a very lucky young girl is unclear. It is made from mahogany and mahogany veneer with poplar secondary wood. The 3 drawers have a scored line outlining the front and there is scored line reeding on each side of the front. The top is a single board with rounded edges. Pieces such as this are useful as well as beautiful, they are perfect places to store extra glasses, watches, handkerchiefs, etc.
