Tunbridge ware; a veneer made at Tunbridge Wells, England. It resembled minute mosaic work. Many small rods or dowels of wood were arranged in a design, and they were then glued in place, like many pieces of spaghetti. This cluster of rods was then thinly sliced, horizontally, and the design appeared on each fine sectional slice of veneer. – Mark Hinchman, University of Nebraska, Fairchild Books, Dictionary of Interior Design 3rd edition, 2014. p. 194 -
