Description
Probably New York State, ca. 1900.
Eastern white pine.
Condition: Fine condition, old varnish finish.
Carved from a single piece of pine supported by the original battens on the back, the panel is composed of a dog in pursuit of a fox with cabins, trees and figures sitting on a fence in the background. The foreground is carved with wonderful depictions of squirrels, game birds and rabbits alongside stumps and grass. This original and unique work is done in a charming folky manner. -
