Description About the spears :
These spear blades were used in and were traded over a large area along the Ubangi river.The Ngbandi are an ethnic group from the region of the upper Ubang, the Northwestern part of Congo Their subsistence depended on traditional hunting and gathering. They were once known as warriors, and some of the most prized African knives and lances were made by their skilled blacksmiths. Mobutu Sese Seko, the ex-president of Zaire, came from the Ngbandi ethnic group.

About the riffle :
These riffles were imitations of Portugese or English models and used by the indigeous people from the end of the 19th C;


About the shield :
The original large leather handle is intact, including the wicker stitching, though it shows some signs of damage. The Azande tribe had three levels of warriors all with different types of shields with this type being the highest level called the Gbilija.
