    This box is remarkable for its impressive and uncommonly large size, rare salmon-red background color, exquisite and unusually complex painted decoration, pristine and untouched condition, and truly notable provenance that includes ownership by two of the most important pioneers in the field of collecting Pennsylvania-German folk art, dealer Hattie K. Brunner (1890-1982) and famed collector Titus H. Geesey (1893-1969), then by decent in his family.
