Early Rosewater Sprinkler

Price Upon Request
  • Description
This rare example of Tiffany's Favrile Glass interpretation of a Rosewater Sprinkler is notable for both the deep blue pigmentation of the glass and the elaborate surface decoration. This example dates from the 1890s, a period of experimentation at Louis Comfort Tiffany's glass furnace.

The globular foot of the vase features a raised peacock feather motif, which transitions to thin ribbing in the thin, coiling neck of the vase. The flared, pointed mouth of the piece is marked by a silvery iridescence, accenting the raised decoration which matches the foot.

A related example in gold iridescent Favrile Glass is part of the permanent collection of the Charles Hosmer Morse Museum of American Art in Winter Park, Florida.
