"Unknown" Mid Century Modern Abstracted Figurative Bust in Black Marbl
-
Description
This impressive sculpture represents the marriage of tribal art with western techniques and materials. Realized in the style of Constantin Brancusi, this figurative bust presents a stylized face chiseled into black marble. The female visage appears with abstracted features, seemingly in a state of repose. The block of marble surrounding her head has been left unfinished offering tones chalky tones of rust and slate. This raw marble, representing her hair, offers both a tonal and textural contrast to the impeccably finished and lustrous black marble. This is a truly compelling object, full of vitality, that would be a dynamic addition to practically any style of decor from classic Mid Century Modern to contemporary. Signed "LJAK" on the reverse. Excellent condition.
