An exquisite and outstanding 17th century tapestry in silk and wool from Belgium. Signed "BB" (Brabant - Belge) and "LeClerc". Very unique for its subject matter and coloration. Wonderful hues of blue and silvery greys. A fascinating scene of the everyday life of fishermen bringing their catch to the dock and fishmongers making their acquisitions. The sea and the sky have great movement - giving the piece wonderful depth. A spectacular art piece that will be the statement of its new home.
