Japanese Vintage Indigo Woven Ikat Gasuri Textile Panel

$ 1,250
  • Description
    A Japanese hand-woven panel with indigo blue background with white ikat chevron and diamond pattern. Sewn together from four loom-woven narrower stripes, the large panel was likely a futonji (futon cover) or Yutan (covering cloth) based on its size. The geometrical pattern was woven with a technique called warp ikat (known as Gasuri in Japanese), in which the warps were resistant dyed prior to the weaving. The piece is likely dated to Taisho period (first half of 20th century). When it is fully opened, it measures 51" w x 61" h. The listed size is for the parcel when folded.
