Viennese Art Deco Rug in Bold Shades of Red

$ 40,000
  • Description
    This vintage rug was created circa 1940 in Vienna. This is how Art Deco style looks combined with Viennese elegance. The sand field carries an overblown irregular medallion with curving fire-like red, orange, and blue swirls around a sand beige centerpiece with pendants containing a form issuing thin tendrils, enclosed within a solid brick red stripe. The composition is balanced and energetic – this European Deco rug is a unique example of Viennese rug craft.

    The vintage Viennese Art Deco rug was carefully hand-knotted of high-quality wool in accordance with traditional techniques, thanks to which it still looks as if it just came down from the looms. If properly maintained, it will serve its owners for generations without any signs of wear.
