Framed Japanese Wedding Kimono

Condition Good. Kimono is of very fine condition, frame with only minor wear consistent with use and age.

Description A large Japanese Wedding Kimono nicely framed with linen backing. The auspicious ceremonial attire was elaborated embroidered with flying cranes and blooming flowers such as peonies in various colors. The deep orange brocade background was further decorated with gold silk thread and cloud pattern of good leaves. Professionally presented on a black and gold lacquered rod within a lined frame. This kimono is dated to early 20th century, likely 30-40s, and was worn as an Uchikake over the inner garment during wedding ceremony. The workmanship is superb and the color very vivid. A lovely piece of textile art. hung on a gold and black lacquered rod and framed. The measurement of the kimono is 68"h x 51"w. With the frame, the measurement is 79"h x 60" x 3.75"d.
