Description A well preserved and most striking room sized Heriz rug from the second quarter of the 20th century, these rugs are often called indestructible for their sturdy construction and inherent longevity. The present example is no exception, remaining in very good original condition with vibrant vegetable dyed wool throughout free of anything but the most minor blemish. It is woven with a rich field complete with the sharp geometrical representations of foliage and flowers we expect from the region, this executed with a full range palette including ruby reds, brick red, navy blue, lapis blue and bright light blues in the spandrels as well as hints of teal and greens, coral and beige throughout. The rug is sharp and symmetrical with an even field of motifs well-balanced around the central motif with its nearly violet ground. A slightly more full pile makes this rug plush and warm, though still remaining low enough to allow the angular design to strike the eye with clarity.

This is a very fine acquisition for anyone passionate about the rugs of the Heris region. It was woven to last the test of time and remains young if properly cared for.

Measurements: 93" x 122" (approximately 7.75' x 12')

Condition Report:
Moderately low pile throughout. Some weft/warp structure visibility. Rug remains soft and pliable throughout. Ends reduced. Some selvedge wear, including visibility of selvedge cords from wear in a few areas.
