Description | Creamware American-market Ship Jug with Fifteen State Ring Design with Eagle on the reverse, Probably Herculaneum, Liverpool, Circa 1800. (NY9132/NMRR) The jug depicts an American-flagged ship in color to one side. On the reverse is a printed chain design of sixteen American States centered with an eagle which is an adaptation of the Great Seal of the United States of America. Tennessee became the 16th on June 1st, 1796. Around the neck is a printed design of grapevines. Below the spout are the initials "S & D" below a "W" within a laurel leaf surround. Tiny chip on the rim- see photo. Dimensions: 8 1/4 inches High x 7 3/4 inches wide x 5 inches deep (21cm high x 19.69 wide x 12.7cm deep).
