C.A.F. (CERAMICHE ARTISTICHE FAMILIARI) was founded in 1951 by the painter and ceramist Nicola Ciavardoni. Born in 1923 in Castelli, in the province of Teramo, Nicola Ciavardoni attended the painting course at the local Art Institute, where he graduated in 1940. In the early 1940s, together with his friend Pasquale Sciannella , he opened a ceramic workshop in some rooms of his home in via Gesualdo Fuina. In the following years he collaborated with the castellane manufactories " Vitta", "Troisi" and "SPICA". In 1946 he moved to Albisola and joined the Mazzotti family as a decorator for the production of artistic ceramics "MGA". In 1948 he was hired by the manufacturer Ugo Michielotto at his factory "Ceramiche Italia", and in 1951 he opened his own workshop for the production of artistic ceramics in both traditional and modern styles, called "CAF" (Family Artistic Ceramics) based in Albisola Capo Corso Ferrari 128, which remained active until 1988.
