Chinese Porcelain Famille Verte Large "Flower Basket" Dish,
Kangxi Period
The Chinese Export porcelain large dish is painted in “famille verte” enamels with a central medallion of an openwork beribboned basket of peony and lotus flowers. In the center of the basket is a 'shou' character motif. There are narrow scrolling bands of stylized floral blooms and buds, the cavetto with petal form reserves containing flowering plants issuing from rockwork against a pale-green stippled ground.
The border with green trellis-work with iron red flower heads within each opening alternating with oval panels containing precious objects. The reverse with three floral sprays on the border and the center in underglaze blue with a flower and leaves.
