Early 20th C. Tin Tip Tray, Clown and Pig Theme

$ 245
  • Description
    Saloon or soda fountain pressed steel tin tip tray; circa 1910 with whimsical theme showing a pig jumping through a paper covered hoop held by two colorfully dressed clowns, while spectators look on from behind the barrier. Excellent original lithography in colors of yellow, blue, red, and gold, with a uniform filigree pattern, double gold border. A couple of usual superficial creases or minor dents to the tray (hardly noticeable), the bright and crisp colors and characters dominate the tray and subject matter. There has been no touch up or restoration of any kind----completely original. Most likely American, and would have been used to return loose change from a customer paying a bill, and encouraged solicitation of a tip.
    Measure: 6 1/4" diameter.
