An antique Portuguese bell shaped terracotta jug with fluted spout and double handles. The distinctive 'Cloche' shape ensured the jars were stable when stored for transit.
Jugs such as these were used throughout Iberia for water, oil and wine and found their way to the Americas where they held imported goods from Europe. -
