  • Description
An unusual partially glazed flower bowl created in the 1960s by Swedish ceramicist Ninnie Forsgren.

Ninnie Forsgren (1937–) was a distinguished ceramicist of the Swedish 20th century. In 1962, she was employed by the small Stockholm ceramic company Bromma Keramik founded by Karl Helge Alexius Grimstig (1903-1985) and Petrus Efraim Rick (1893-1969) in 1949 in Abrahamsberg, Sweden. The next year, she bought the company and later changed the name to Ateljé Ninnie Keramik. She specialized in interior design goods like bowls, dishes, and candleholders. She became mostly known for her colorful hand-decorated wall plaques that warmed the hearts of Swedish homeowners of the 1960s and 1970s. They are made of brown stoneware with a rough surface and rectangular or quadratic forms. The kindhearted relief motifs show colorful stylized animals, people, and plants, and have two holes with a leather band in between. On the backside, they are usually marked with the model number and the company or artist's name. Ninnie left the company in 1978 to work as a freelance ceramicist and painter. Her artistry was exhibited at numerous exhibitions in the Nordic countries.
