    A Swiss gold and enamel Zarf for the Turkish Market, circa 1840,

    of vase form with waved rim, decorated with three oval painted panels of flowers, divided by gold filigree of grapes and vines.

    Measures: 2.5" high x 2" diameter

    Good condition, minor wear to enamel. One oval blue painted panel with repairs (see photos)

    What Is A Zarf? An ottoman coffee cup and holder. A Zarf is a cup holder for a cup with no handles. They come in two varieties. One like this which is most often found in the Middle East. And a second variety most often made of silver, with a small handle which holds a glass cup, more often found in Russia. The holder is called a Zarf.
