Antique silkwork coastal scene embroidery. The embroidery is worked in silks on a silk ground, in a variety of stitches. Meandering leafy border. Colors greens, cream, yellow, blues and brown. Picture depicts a scene country folk in the foreground. A man is pointing his gun at three men in a boat, sailing in the middle ground. There are buildings in the background. Framed in an old, gilded, gesso frame with rippled, old glass. Mounting: The sampler is loose mounted over a acid free card. Frame backed with card. Dimensions exclude the frame and slip.

Period: 19th Century Materials: Silk Condition: Good. Good. One tiny hole. A few pale stain specks. Very minor stitch loss to the tree motif. Colours are somewhat faded, but still well defined.
