WILD SILK, 20.2

Sold Sold
  • Description
Painter, sculptor, designer, but also craftsman, François Mascarello experiments with materials and artistic techniques in order to translate into space the strength of manual gesture as much as its fragility. It is through his mastery of the material constraints that he brings to life the emotion essential to any art. Each of his tapestries is made in two stages. First Mascarello composes an abstract landscape with oil paint on paper. This work is then transposed into textile material. The thin strips of wild silk are cut, then sewn one by one by hand on silk. The shimmering fabric thus reinterprets the painter's gesture and brings it into a new dimension, at once warm, intriguing and tactile.
