Description An unusually large and beautifully wrought silk needlework picture, based on the 1796 Philadelphia engraving by Edward Savage. “Liberty. In the form of the Goddess of Youth; giving Support to the Bald Eagle." Transcribed on back of frame: “Done by Harriet Merriam (born Dec. 5, 1797) in her sixteenth year." Hannah later married Joseph Fisher, master mate on the USS Constitution during the war of 1812.
